Project Description

The medical need for Intravenous (IV) Fluids in Nigeria was quickly identified by the medical community especially after Covid. The high level of demand in the market for Intravenous Fluids is expected to grow at a rate of 5.79%.

Harvard Petroleum, through Memorial Specialist Hospital Medical Complex Ltd. saw this need and decided to manufacture and distribute Intravenous (IV) Fluids. The Company’s products consist of various types of IV Fluids, which include Dextrose Saline, Normal Saline, Hartmann’s Solution, Ringer Lactate Solution, Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN). These products come in different packages and sizes and can be applied to various markets such as the consumer and manufacturing sectors.

The PP Bottle IV fluid production plant proposed would have the capacity to produce 2000 bottles of 500ml per hour. The plant is assumed to operate at 30% capacity in the first year, working for 8 hours every day. The production capacity would increase at 10% per year and would reach 100% capacity in the sixth year, running for 16 hours per day.

We plan to set up a world class plant with state-of-the-art equipment to produce Intravenous Fluids and other related products in Anambra State. The equipment will be fully automated and will drive the company operations. The factory will be sitting on 6 plots (2700m2) of land large enough to accommodate the administrative building, factory building and laboratories.

The company will create jobs as more than 500 young graduates will be employed at the commencement of operations. The business strategy of the Company has always been to focus on providing high quality products at reasonable prices to its customers.

The expected low overheads will enable the Company to maintain its low pricing strategy yet deliver high quality products. The inherent strengths of creating a low-cost high-quality product allow the Company to hold a strategic position over other medical and healthcare products manufacturers and achieve its target market share in the IV Fluids market. The Company’s low overheads will be achieved through the employment of only fully qualified and capable personnel to perform the required task. In addition, the company factory will be kept simple in order to minimize cost. Its machines will also be placed strategically so as to achieve efficiency in production

Producing IV Fluids and manufacturing the plastic containers and drip devices is just another way that HPI can increase profitabiliy while providing necessary component of healthcare that can actually save lives.
